How we research and write our guides

Tenancy Pilot's guides cover high-stakes areas of housing law — possession, rent, deposits, eviction — where getting it wrong has real consequences. Accuracy matters, so here is exactly how we work.

Primary sources first

Every guide is grounded in primary sources: the legislation itself (the Renters' Rights Act 2025 and related Acts) and official guidance on GOV.UK, including the current prescribed forms. We do not build guidance on second-hand blog summaries.

Written for England, for the law in force

Our guides are specific to England and reflect the law as in force in 2026 under the Renters' Rights Act 2025. Where a rule changed on commencement, we say what it replaced so you're not caught out by older advice.

Reviewed and dated

Each guide shows a "Reviewed" date so you can see how current it is. When the law or official guidance changes, we update the affected guides and refresh that date.

Corrections

If you spot anything out of date, unclear or wrong, please tell us — email contact@tenancypilot.co.uk and we'll review and fix it promptly.

Not legal advice

Our guides are general information, not legal advice, and don't create a solicitor–client relationship. For complex or contested situations, consult a qualified solicitor before acting.
